Phoebe Philo OBE (* 1973 in Paris ) is a British fashion designer .

Life

Philo's British parents worked in Paris in 1973. Two years later they moved back to the UK. Philo grew up in Harrow-on-the-Hill and studied from 1993 at Central Saint Martins , which she graduated in 1996. She then worked from 1997 for the French fashion company Chloé as a fashion design assistant to her college friend Stella McCartney . When McCartney was poached by Gucci in 2001 , Philo succeeded them as chief designer at Chloé. In January 2006 Philo left the Chloé company, for which she had worked in a studio in Paris, and moved back to London. In September 2008, she succeeded Ivana Omazić as chief designer at the French women's fashion company Céline , a subsidiary of the French group LVMH . LVMH set up a studio in Mayfair for Philo. At the end of December 2017, she announced her departure from Celine. Her successor was Hedi Slimane from February 2018 .

Philo has two younger siblings. She has been married to the British gallery owner Max Wigram since 2004 and has three children.
