Physalis rydbergii is a plant type from the genus of jujubes ( Physalis ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Physalis rydbergii is an herbaceous plant that can be woody at the base and shoots several stems with a height of 15 to 30 cm from a woody root . It is hairy with short, fine, diverging, multicellular trichomes , some of which are glandular. The leaf blades of the leaves are lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate or rhombic-lanceolate. The blades of the larger leaves are 10 to 15 mm long and 3 to 7 mm wide and overflow into a 3 to 8 mm long petiole . Both sides of the leaf are hairy like the stems. The leaf margin is almost entire or covered with one to a few teeth of different shapes and sizes.

The flowers are on 5 to 7 mm long pedicels . The calyx has a length of 4 to 5 mm at the flowering time and measures 2 to 2.5 mm in diameter at the base of the calyx lobes. The shape of the calyx is elongated to elongated-bell-shaped. The calyx lobes are egg-shaped to triangular and 1 to 1.5 mm long. The crown is yellowish in color and unspotted, or slightly spotted, but this disappears when dried. They become 7 to 9 mm long and 6 to 8 mm or more wide. The anthers are yellow, about 2 mm long and stand on 3 to 4 mm long stamens .

The fruit is a berry that almost completely fills the enlarged calyx surrounding it. This is 8 to 12 mm long and 8 to 10 mm wide, elongated egg-shaped and open at the tip.

distribution

The species is endemic to the Mexican state of Sinaloa .
