Picarbutrazox is a chemical compound and fungicide developed by Nippon Soda and launched in 2017.

Properties and use

Picarbutrazox is an odorless, white solid. As a fungicide, it acts selectively against attack by egg fungi in agriculture. It is used as a seed treatment agent in maize and soybean cultivation, where it is said to be effective against Phytophthora and Pythium . The active ingredient has a new, as yet unknown mechanism of action. In addition, no resistances are known yet.

Admission

Picarbutrazox is not approved as a crop protection agent in the European Union or Switzerland (as of 2020). Approval has been applied for in the USA.
