Pierre Bussières

Pierre Bussières PC (born July 8, 1939 in Normandin , Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean , Québec ; † August 15, 2014 ) was a Canadian politician of the Liberal Party of Canada , who was a member of the Lower House for several years and was temporarily a minister.

Life

Bussières, who was an administrative assistant and vice director of the Liberal Party's office for the city of Québec and the east of the province of Québec, was elected and represented for the first time as a candidate of the Liberal Party in the lower house in the general election on July 8, 1974 in this first the constituency of Portneuf and then from the election of May 22, 1979 until his electoral defeat in the general election of September 4, 1984 the constituency of Charlesbourg

At the beginning of his parliamentary membership Bussières was from September 30, 1974 to October 17, 1977 Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee on Agriculture. On October 1, 1978, he took up his first government offices and was until March 26, 1979 both Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of State for Science and Technology and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Energy, Mining and Resources.

After he was Minister of State for Finance from March 3, 1980 to September 29, 1982, Bussières was appointed Minister of National Income to the 22nd Government of Canada by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau on September 30, 1982 and belonged to this until the end of Trudeaus Term of office on June 29, 1984.
