Pierre Byland

Pierre Byland (born October 6, 1938 in Buchs , Aargau ) is a Swiss actor , clown , director and author .

Live and act

Pierre Byland initially trained on the piano in Switzerland and took acrobatics lessons. In Paris he took lessons in pantomime with Jacques Lecoq (1959–62). He subsequently produced several small shows there and gave lessons at his training facility between 1964 and 1976. In addition to numerous theatrical performances, especially in Switzerland, in which he was often active as an author, co-author or director, between 1964 and 1980 he took part in several television productions. He became interested in the role of the clown at an early age. He taught clown art from 1986 to 1990 and trains circus actors at the Center national des arts du cirque in Châlons-en-Champagne , of which he is co-founder. He is also the founder or co-founder of the Compagnie Les Fusains in Cavigliano , Switzerland, and the Burlesk Center (European center for contemporary burlesque art in Switzerland). Actors such as Uwe Rohde and Wolfgang Krebs trained with Pierre Byland.

Pierre Byland is married to the actress Mareike Schnitker.
