Until April 13, 2013, Cavigliàno was a political municipality in the Melezza district , in the Locarno district in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland . On April 14, 2013 Cavigliàno was merged with Tegna and Verscio to form the new municipality of Terre di Pedemonte . Until the merger, the neighboring municipalities were Centovalli , Maggia , Vèrscio, Losone and Isorno .

The village is on the railway line through the Centovalli to Italy , at the entrance to the Onsernone Valley. With Tegna and Verscio, C. formed the Terre di Pedemonte region and a single civil parish.

Community merger

On September 22, 2002, a consultative vote took place on the merger project of the municipalities of Tégna, Vèrscio and Cavigliàno to form the new municipality of Terre di Pedemonte . The project was abandoned after Tégna's voters voted against it.

The place was inhabited at the beginning of Roman times. Eight Roman graves were found on November 14, 1944.
