Pierre Chanal (born November 18, 1946 in Saint-Étienne , † October 15, 2003 in Reims ) was a French serial killer and rapist .

Pierre Chanal kidnapped, raped and probably murdered eight young men, the disappeared from Mourmelon . His last victim killed was 19-year-old Irishman Trevor O'Keeffe, he tied and strangled him on August 3, 1987. On October 1, 1982, he kidnapped and murdered Olivier Donner. Since DNA technology had developed significantly, traces of sexual secretions and hair could be assigned to the victims Patrick Gache and Patrice Denis. A trial was scheduled to take place in 2003, but Chanal , who was hospitalized for a hunger strike , cut his femoral artery and bled to death unnoticed.

Pierre Chanal are also charged with the murders of Patrick Dubois, Serge Havet, Manuel Carvalho and Pascal Sergent.
