Pierre Collings
Pierre Collings (born September 22, 1900 in Truro , Nova Scotia , Canada , † December 21, 1937 in North Hollywood , California ) was an American screenwriter who won both the Oscar at the 1937 Academy Awards for the film Louis Pasteur (1936) for Best Original Story and the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay .
Life
Collings, the son of a mining engineer , was initially a cameraman in 1924 for the production of the silent film Untamed Youth by Émile Chautard . He then worked as a screenwriter between 1925 and 1936 in the production of twelve films. For the screenplay Time to Love (1927) he received a fee of 13,600 US dollars .
At the Academy Awards in 1937, he and Sheridan Gibney won both the Oscar for best original story and for best adapted screenplay for the film Louis Pasteur (1936) by William Dieterle with Paul Muni , Josephine Hutchinson and Anita Louise . He died of pneumonia that same year.
