Pierre Nocca

Pierre Nocca (born August 27, 1916 in Sète ; † February 15, 2016 ) was a French sculptor .

Life

Nocca studied at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Montpellier and later in Paris . The Second World War interrupted his artistic work; Nocca was a soldier first. After the armistice in 1940 he settled in the La Ruche artists' colony in Paris. During the occupation of France, he joined the Resistance .

In 1957 he moved from La Ruche to his native Sète, where he has had his studio ever since. In Sète he was first a drawing teacher at the secondary school "Collège Victor-Hugo" and from 1964 to 1985 professor at the "École des Beaux-Arts de Sète". Nocca created the Monument de la Résistance for Montpellier . His works of art can be found in many parts of France as well as outside the country, for example in Abidjan and Nottingham .
