Pierre Tschannen

Pierre Tschannen (born January 22, 1952 in Bern ) is a Swiss lawyer .

Life

From 1971 to 1977 studied Tschannen at the University of Bern Law . In 1977 he received the Bern advocacy certificate and became an assistant to Peter Saladin . From 1978 to 1990 Tschannen was employed as a lawyer at the Federal Office for Spatial Planning . In 1986 he wrote his dissertation on "The structure plan and the coordination of spatially effective tasks". In 1987 he became head of the legal service of the Federal Office for Spatial Planning.

From 1990 to 1995 Tschannen worked as a lawyer at the Federal Office of Justice , where he was most recently involved as an adjunct in the total revision of the Federal Constitution .

In 1994, Tschannen a teaching position for Heads of State and Administrative Law at the University of Bern, 1995. at the University of Freiburg . In the same year he completed his habilitation on the subject of “ voting rights and political understanding”. In 1996 the University of Bern appointed him associate professor for constitutional and administrative law, and in 1998 professor .

In 2015 Tschannen was one of the signatories of the appeal “Switzerland is a constitutional state - No to the enforcement initiative ”.

The right-wing conservative Weltwoche considers Tschannen to be a “disseminator of false doctrines” who praises the blind acceptance and adoption of international law.
