Pink Panther and the Magic Formula is a point-and-click adventure released in 1998 and the sequel to Pink Panther's Dangerous Mission . The main character is again Paulchen Panther , the game is again controlled with the mouse .
action
Paulchen Panther has since given up his work as a secret agent and has become a commercial agent . One evening he went to a villa to get a reference work there. The owner of the house is a dentist who got rich, especially with dentures. Their son Nathan, however, practices magic. He got the knowledge and the equipment for it from the magician Strangeblood, whose dwelling is secluded near the villa. Whenever he was out, Nathan went there and borrowed some things without asking. When Paulchen wants to audition in the villa, a small company has just got together for an upcoming auction of celebrity teeth. In an accident, a girl named Violet is turned into an ugly wombat by Nathan. Since Nathan doesn't know how to clear up the situation, he asks Paulchen, who happens to be present, for help. As leverage, he pronounces a curse and bewitches its reference work: Only when Violet has been transformed back, the curse is also released. Paulchen then makes his way to Strangeblood's hut. When he wants to take the book there with all the spells with him, he is surprised by the returning master. With his pet, a small black hole , Paulchen can escape and from then on travel to different places with it. In Siberia and Palestine he gets the ingredients for an antidote, but Violet then eats a poisoned apple made by Nathan and falls into a coma-like state. In Indonesia and Kenya , Paulchen then procures additional ingredients to bring them back to life. Something goes wrong during the production of the potion, because a being named Echidna has now taken possession of the girl. Since this is a creature from Greek mythology , Paulchen travels to Olympus to seek help from the Greek gods. Poseidon himself travels back with Paulchen, but Echidna does not listen to him. Suddenly the magician Strangeblood appears in the room and stops the hustle and bustle. He reveals that he thinks very highly of Nathan and that he observed his progress closely, and that he secretly helped him from time to time. He also offers the boy to do an apprenticeship with him. Paulchen, whose book is now complete again, stays behind alone and says that although he did not think that you have to travel around so much as a sales representative, at least he has experienced a lot of interesting things.
Learning content
In contrast to its predecessor, the function to get spoken information about objects in the game with the right mouse button is no longer available. With the “Book of Knowledge” there is again an opportunity for younger players to find out more about the various countries, their history and culture.
Again, some critical topics can be found in the very humorous game, such as the effects of atomic bomb tests , the hunt for shark fins in Indonesia or the ongoing consequences of colonization in Africa.
The Greece section deals with Greek mythology .

As in the previous version , the game can be played on all Windows versions, but the CD-ROM can only be read by 32-bit systems.
You control Paulchen as in the previous one. Instead of going straight to the clicked spot like in most other point-and-click games, Pink only runs to predetermined goals that cause certain events.
While " Pink Panther's Dangerous Mission " was visited one place after the other, the gameplay has now changed slightly: Thanks to the black hole that is carried along, Paulchen is able to travel between the villa and two exotic locations at any time. Only in the last part of the game, which leads him to Greece, there is no other continent to choose from. Objects from one place are often needed for another.

The German game magazine PC Player praised the "brilliantly translated" word games and the music, but criticized the graphics, the low complexity of the puzzles and the short playing time compared to the predecessor.
