The Ravensburger Group decided in 2002 to discontinue the business activities of Ravensburger Interactive Media after the market development for CD-ROM computer games was assessed as unsatisfactory. Ravensburger AG wanted to part with loss-makers such as CD-ROMs and learning computers.

Large parts of Ravensburger Interactive Media were sold to the publisher JoWood as part of an asset deal . Among other things, the computer game productions Arx Fatalis , Wildlife Park and the porting of Aquanox for PlayStation 2 were taken over by JoWood. JoWood took over Fishtank Interactive including all licenses. In addition, the managing director of Ravensburger Interactive, Thomas Kirchenkamp, moved to the board of JoWood.

Ravensburger Interactive had already signed a contract with the developer Headfirst Productions for the development of the game Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth . In return for the exclusive marketing by Ravensburger Interactive, payments have already been made to Headfirst. Bethesda Softworks took over further financing and ultimately marketing of the game . Ravensburger agreed in a settlement agreement with Headfirst to give up the rights to the game for future payments of 800,000 euros, but this did not occur due to the insolvency of Headfirst Productions.

The headquarters of Ravensburger Interactive Media GmbH were later relocated from Ravensburg to Munich , the name was changed to Ravensburger Digital GmbH and the company was finally merged with Ravensburger AG in 2017. From 2009, Ravensburger Digital GmbH published app implementations of board games and puzzles for smartphones and tablets , before this division was incorporated into Ravensburger AG as a digital department in 2017.
