The PiperJet Altaire 360 was a project by the US aircraft manufacturer Piper Aircraft Corporation . The aircraft can be assigned to the Very Light Jets (VLJ) class according to its weight . The single-engine Altaire was intended as a business jet , which is flown by a pilot and can carry up to six passengers.
history
In July 2008, the first test vehicle Piperjet PA-47 took off on its maiden flight . Three further prototypes were intended for flight tests and one for static load tests. Piper Aircraft began producing parts for the first airframe in the slightly larger series version in mid-2011 , after which construction should begin in August 2011. The first flight of the first series-compliant version should follow in 2012, the approval and the first deliveries in 2014. Factory facilities in Vero Beach, Florida were prepared for the production of the Altaire at a cost of $ 5.6 million , with approximately 200 people employed on the Piper program. In October 2011, Piper Aircraft announced that it would postpone the program indefinitely for economic reasons and lay off a larger number of employees. Two weeks earlier, Piper had presented a demonstration model of the jet at the Annual Meeting & Convention of the National Business Aviation Association in Las Vegas .
construction
It is propelled by a Williams International FJ-44 -3AP jet engine, which delivers a thrust of 11.24 kN. This enables a cruising speed of 480 km / h and a range (with reserve) of 2,400 km. The targeted price is stated at US $ 2.6 million.
