history
Until the founding period, individual master builders and masons were predominant in Linz. It was not until the Upper Austrian Construction Company was founded in 1871 as a stock corporation and the first large construction company in Upper Austria that the construction industry developed into the construction industry. The establishment of the company was carried out by the large-scale industry in Linz. Major shareholders were the Industrie- und Commerzial-Bank, Allgemeine Sparkasse, Grillmayr & Sons and Löwenfeld & Hofmann. The OÖ Baugesellschaft soon became the leader in the province of Upper Austria, despite the fact that some construction companies from Vienna had branches in Linz.
Ignaz Scheck was the head of the Upper Austrian construction company for many years from 1873 until his death in 1903, who, alongside Michael Lettmayr and Gustav Steinberger , designed numerous public and private buildings in Upper Austria. The Upper Austrian construction company had its own brickworks in Linz (Froschberg, today Linz Stadium ).
The company was also closely linked to the cement industry. The art mill owner Adolf Hofmann and Emil Dierzer von Traunthal , owner of the Kirchdorfer cement works, were on the board of directors of the construction company. After 1921 the order situation gradually worsened and in 1928 the company finally merged with the construction company Pirkl & Eysert , with whom it had been cooperating for a long time on larger orders.
Pirkl & Eysert
The construction company Pirkl & Eysert was founded in 1919 by the engineers Josef Pirkl and Georg Eysert in Linz. It was mainly active in factory, railway and bridge construction.
United construction company Pirkl & Eysert
