Mauriz Balzarek, a student of Otto Wagner , became known, among other things, for the design of the country villa in Bad Hall , built between 1912 and 1914 and considered to be the most important Art Nouveau building in Upper Austria.
Balzarek created the architectural designs for the Upper Austrian run-of-river power plant Steyrdurchbruch an der Steyr and the first Austrian storage power plant Partenstein in the upper Mühlviertel in Untermühl an der Donau.
In 1912/1913 he built an architectural gem on Museumstrasse in Linz for the management of ESG Linz , the facade of which is decorated with gold-colored ornaments.
In 1914, a bathhouse was built on the property at Eternitstrasse 21 in Vöcklabruck , where, according to Friedrich Achleitner, the culture of secessionist details is still present, but on the other hand the upcoming objectivity is already heralded in the conciseness of the structural forms .
In 1917–1918 a workers' settlement was built in Steyr based on his designs (Hohe Ennsleiten, Josef-Wokal-Straße 10–22).
In 1923 and 1924 he was engaged in work at Lilienfeld Abbey in Lower Austria.
The Hauptschule Perg (formerly Hauptschule I, today Neue Mittelschule I) was built according to his designs and opened in 1929.
The Villa Reindl with the traditional corner tower in Perg, Bahnhofstraße 12, from 1928 is also one of his works. The property was carefully renovated at the end of the 1990s.
In 1930, in Vöcklabruck, Hatschekstrasse 27-45, Balzarek built the Hatschek settlement consisting of row houses . Here, too, he applied the principle of livening up the simple house front with arbor-like porches.
