Lists on the subject |
The pistol vz. 52 (civil name ČZ 52 ) is a Czechoslovakian self-loading pistol with a caliber of 7.62 × 25 mm and was used by the country's armed forces as a standard handgun .
technology
The first prototypes of the weapon were made in the 9 mm Parabellum caliber . Under pressure from the Soviet Union , these were referred to in the Tokarev pistol used 7.62 mm - bottleneck cartridge redesigned. While the early drafts still had a double-action trigger , this was later dropped for reasons of simplicity. The weapon thus deviated more and more from the original design. The locking system was retained and is its special feature. A roller lock was used for the first time in a pistol . The run slides in a straight line back and the shutter locked by rollers in lateral recesses in the carriage interior. This system is borrowed from the support roller lock of the German machine gun 42 . It is characterized by its reliability and resistance to wear, but requires a very precise manufacturing process with low tolerances. Guns with the Browning system , such as the Soviet Tokarew TT-33 with a bolt lug, are less technically demanding and easier to manufacture. The production of the vz. 52 was therefore already discontinued in 1957. Vz. 52 is now offered in 9 mm caliber (Parabellum / Luger) with replacement barrels from arsenal stocks.
With the ammunition normally used, the trajectory is very stretched. The cartridge with its already high speed was even increased in its performance in Czechoslovakia. The muzzle velocity is therefore quite high for a pistol . This has disadvantages for use as a defense weapon, since the high kinetic energy causes a not inconsiderable recoil , but military full-jacket bullets in this small caliber have comparatively little man-stopping effect. For these reasons, the Makarov cartridge 9 × 18 mm was later introduced in the Warsaw Treaty armed forces . Since the handle of the vz. 52 is shaped “militarily Spartan” and the trigger resistance of 35–45 N is relatively high, this otherwise very robust weapon is not particularly easy to handle.
