Pius Lipp

Johannes Josef Anton Pius Lipp (born March 25, 1883 in Haßmersheim ; † April 12, 1952 there ) was a native Baden painter .

Life

Pius Lipp was the sixth and last child of the Tüncher Josef Lipp and his wife Johanna Katharina born. Haas was born in Haßmersheim. After his training and attending the Mosbach trade school , his parents sent him to the arts and crafts school in Karlsruhe . He spent five years at the Academy of Fine Arts before completing his education in Stuttgart and leaving the academy in Stuttgart as a "freelance artist". As a volunteer in the First World War with the I. Badischer Leibgrenadierregiment 109, he was seriously wounded on January 11, 1916 and lost both legs. In March 1916 he was relocated to Nuremberg , then to Heidelberg . After two years of treatment, he was released seriously wounded. As a drawing teacher he found a job at the grammar school in Sasbach in the Ortenaukreis and married Hedwig Albertina, née Hedwig Albertina, on August 12, 1918. Flaig (1893–1967) from Villingen , sister of the expressionist painter Waldemar Flaig . Three years later he returned to Haßmersheim with his young wife and son Walter (1919–1943). Pius Lipp died on April 14, 1952 in Haßmersheim.

Exhibitions

From January 27 to February 10, 1974, the first exhibition of 30 paintings by Pius Lipp took place in the Kickelhain building in Mosbach. On March 25, 1983, on the occasion of the painter's 100th birthday, another exhibition of his works took place in Haßmersheim. A Pius Lipp Memorial Exhibition is planned for 2018 in Haßmersheim.
