Plamen Iwanow Iliew ( Bulgarian : Пламен Илиев; English transcription Plamen Iliev ; born November 30, 1991 in Botevgrad , Bulgaria ) is a Bulgarian national football goalkeeper who has been playing for the Romanian first division club Astra Giurgiu since winter 2017 .
Career
Beginnings
At the age of nine, Iliew began playing football near Balkan Botevgrad in his hometown. In 2006 he moved to the youth team of the Bulgarian first division club Widima-Rakowski Sevliewo . For the 2009/10 season he moved up to the professional squad , but played no game as a substitute behind Dimitar Pantev . On July 30, 2010 he made his professional debut in a 1-1 draw against Lokomotive Plovdiv . Overall, Iliev played a cup game and 12 league games between 2009 and 2011.
Levski Sofia
After his first half season as a regular goalkeeper, he moved to Levski Sofia in the capital on January 1, 2011 . There he played on March 6, 2011 in the derby against Lokomotive Sofia the first game, which was won 2-0. After almost four years and over 100 league games for Levski, it was not possible to agree on a new contract with Iliew.
Change to Romania
He thus moved to the Romanian club FC Botoșani for the 2015/16 season on a free transfer . He made his debut on July 2, 2015 in the first round of the Europa League qualification against Spartaki Tskhinvali . In the 2nd round he and his team were eliminated against Legia Warsaw . In the league, he played 43 more games after his first appearance on July 12 in a 0-0 draw against CS Universitatea Craiova .
Iliew has been under contract with Astra Giurgiu since the 2017 winter transfer window . He signed a two-year contract with the then reigning Romanian champions. He made his debut on March 2, 2017 in a 3-2 win over Politehnica Iași .
National team
Iliev was in the goal of the Bulgarian U-21 national team nine times between 2010 and 2012.
On May 29, 2012 he made his debut in the friendly against the Turkish national team when he was substituted on in the 2-0 defeat in the 75th minute for Stojan Kolew .
