Platinum Games ( Japanese プ ラ チ ナ ゲ ー ム ズ 株式会社 , Purachinagēmuzu kabushiki-gaisha , stylized spelling PlatinumGames ) is a Japanese game development company .

history

Platinum Games was founded in August 2006 under the name Seeds, Inc. by Shinji Mikami , Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya , former employees of Capcom's Clover Studio . In March 2007, Capcom dissolved the Clover Studio and all rights to the series developed by the studio, such as B. Viewtiful Joe , God Hand, and Ōkami stayed with Capcom. Much of the former Clover studio team then merged as a new development studio. In October 2007, Seeds, Inc. merged with the development studio ODD Inc. and changed the name to Platinum Games .

The fighting game Anarchy Reigns was originally supposed to appear in Europe and North America in July 2012, but has been postponed by the publisher Sega . Instead, it was released in Europe on January 11, 2013.

In January 2017 the Scalebound project was unexpectedly discontinued after several years of development. The action role-playing game was developed for Microsoft Studios and should be released for Xbox One and Windows 10 .

Nier: Automata , the sequel to Nier , was released on February 23, 2017 for Playstation 4 and Windows.

Plantinum Games is currently developing Bayonetta 3 and Astral Chain exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
