The PlayStation Classic is published in the December 2018 stationary Retro - game console by Sony Interactive Entertainment . The game console is a much more compact new edition of the PlayStation from 1994, emulated using the latest technology . The PlayStation Classic is the eighth game console of the PlayStation brand .

In addition to the console itself, the PlayStation Classic package includes the following components:
A socket adapter for the USB cable is not included. For this purpose, 20 selected PlayStation games are preinstalled on the console.

reception
The PlayStation Classic was received mostly negatively by the trade press. Criticisms included the relatively high price compared to competing products, the selection of games and the emulation of the titles, since Sony chose the slower 50 Hertz PAL versions for the ROMs instead of the 60 Hertz US versions.
Like some similar retro consoles such as B. the NES Classic Mini or the SNES Classic Mini , the PlayStation Classic can be modified comparatively easily, so that the game selection can be expanded to include additional titles from other platforms.
