history

The songs from the EP were never regularly released on a Pogues album, but later appeared as bonus tracks on Rum, Sodomy & the Lash .

"Body of an American" was used in a scene on the US television series The Wire . The band themselves played the song as the second on their appearance on the US comedy series Saturday Night Live . Shane MacGowan started the song clearly drunk and finished it smoking and drinking while sitting on the drum riser .

"Planxty Noel Hill" refers to the renowned Irish musician Noel Hill . Hill had stated that the Pogues would disregard Irish musical traditions. On the band's first tour of Ireland, some members took part in a panel discussion with Hill on Irish radio, while Hill described the music of the Pogues as a "terrible abortion". The word "Planxty" comes from the Irish harpist Turlough O'Carolan . B. be a modification of the Irish toast sláinte , but there are different theories.

"(...) The four-song Poguetry in Motion EP is hardly a collection of leftovers - in fact, the material ranks alongside the Pogues' very best efforts."
