economy

Until the middle of the 20th century, the inhabitants of Poo lived mainly as a self-sufficient source of income from their fields and gardens, as well as from raising cattle . Attractions

  • The church of Santa María Magdalena , just outside the village, was consecrated in 1679. The west and north sides are enclosed by a circumferential open gallery, which ties in with older Castilian traditions (e.g. San Miguel Arcangel in Sotosalbos or Santa Cecilia in Barriosuso ).
  • The neo-Romanesque parish church of San Vicente was completed in 1869.
  • The Palacio de Cernuda (also called Palacio de Perez Bulnes ) is an imposing building from the 17th century; it stands a little outside and above the place. While the ground floor is made of quarry stone and plastered, the representative facade of the upper floor consists largely of precisely hewn natural stone . A loggia on the upper floor of the left part and a three-door balcony in the right part with a stone heraldic shield attached in the middle enrich the picture. On the ground floor there are also three narrow, almost loopholes-like window openings with loosened frames.
