Port Authority Bus Terminal
The Port Authority Bus Terminal in the Manhattan borough is the largest bus station in New York City . With 7,200 buses, 200,000 passengers and 223 bus platforms every day, it is also the busiest bus station in the world. It is operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (port authority of the states of New York and New Jersey ) and serves regional and long-distance services to the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Opened in 1950, the terminal is a complex of buildings at the intersection of 42nd Street and 8th Avenue, about 400 meters west of Times Square . There are several access ramps for buses from the Lincoln Tunnel into the building. Shops, ticket offices and ticket machines are located on the ground floor and first floor. The bus platforms are located on the second and third floors, which are open to the outside, similar to a parking garage. A total of 1,250 parking spaces are available on the roof and on two attached parking levels. In the basement there are more bus platforms, counters and access to the underground station.

Local transport
The bus station has its own subway station on the IND Eighth Avenue Line . The 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal (lines ) station is also directly connected to the 42nd Street- Times Square (lines ) station by a pedestrian tunnel , which also allows free transfers between the subway lines at both stations.
