The 42nd Street in Manhattan is one of the most famous streets in New York City . It extends between the Hudson River and the East River ; their length is approx. 3,500 m. The intersection between 42nd Street and Broadway (or 7th Avenue, which coincides with Broadway up to this point) forms the southern boundary of Times Square and the location of the Times Square - 42nd Street subway stop, a tourist center of the city. In the 1969 film Asphalt Cowboy , the hero Joe Buck (played by Jon Voight) fails while trying to earn a living as a gigolo on 42nd Street . The term 42nd Street is used as a synonym for street prostitute in this film.

Since September 2009 it has been possible to drive on 42nd Street virtually, as the M42 bus line and thus also the entire 42nd Street was reproduced in the PC game " City Bus Simulator 2010".
