Line Q is a line on the New York City Subway and runs from 96 Street on the Upper East Side to Coney Island Stillwell Avenue . It is the first and currently only line on the Second Avenue Subway . A Q train at the new 86 Street Station

Due to its main route under Broadway , it has the line identification color yellow and is also known as Second Avenue / Broadway Express (or local at night ).

The Q trains run most of the day in Manhattan as express trains that only stop at selected stations, but at night and in Brooklyn as local. Line Q shares the main route in Manhattan with lines N and R , as well as with line B in Brooklyn.

Until the opening of the Second Avenue Subway in 2017, the line was led to Astoria via the BMT Astoria Line . This branch has been served by the reintroduced W line since then .
