The line F is a line of New York City Subway and runs from Jamaica -179 Street on the IND Queens Boulevard Line , IND 63rd Street Line , IND Sixth Avenue Line , IND Culver Line to Coney Iceland - Stillwell Avenue . Since it runs on the trunk line under the Avenue of the Americas ("6th Av."), It has the line identification color orange and is also known as 6 Avenue Local . With a length of 43 km, it is the second longest route in the entire network.
Line F operates on its entire route as a "local" that stops at all stations along the route. The trains on Line F operate as one of four lines around the clock, every day of the week, without changing the route or stopping.

The line also operated as an express service until the 1980s.
Until 2010, Line F was feared for delays. Only the use of new vehicles provided a remedy.
