The line G is a line of New York City Subway and runs from Court Square in Long Iceland City on the IND Crosstown Line and IND Culver Line to Church Avenue in Kensington . Since it runs on the trunk route between Queens and Brooklyn , it bears the line color light green and is also known as Brooklyn-Queens Crosstown Local .
It connects Queens and Brooklyn to the west of the two boroughs and serves the districts of Long Island City , Greenpoint , Williamsburg , Downtown Brooklyn , Red Hook Park Slope and Kensington . It is the only main line that does not serve Manhattan (all other lines that do not serve Manhattan are so-called shuttle lines ).
The trains on line G operate as “local” along their entire route, stopping at all stations along the route. Line G runs around the clock, every day of the week, with no changes to the route or stops.
