The Port Barton Marine Park is 120 km northeast of Puerto Princesa , the capital of the Palawan Province in the Philippines . The Marine Park is a collaborative venture and was established on January 6, 1998 by the Palawan Province Local Authorities, the San Vicente Township , the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the United States Agency for International Development . The Port Barton Coastal Resource Management Plan was developed by the actors involved to manage the park. The park's governing body consists primarily of local figures such as the Albaguen Fishermen's Association, ferry operators and the community council.

The marine reserve covers an area of 744.83 km² in the inner area of Pagdanan Bay. It contains a variety of islands such as Albaguen, Paraiso, Exotic Island, as well as numerous coral reefs such as the Manta Ray Reef and the Black Coral Reef that form the core zone of the park. They serve as recreation and rearing areas for fish populations.

The Marine Park suffered several severe setbacks in 1998/99 and 2010 due to coral bleaching caused by the El Niño phenomenon and typhoon Norming in 1998.
