Praseodymium (IV) oxide is an inorganic chemical compound of praseodymium from the group of oxides .

Extraction and presentation

Praseodymium (IV) oxide can be obtained from lower praseodymium oxides, especially from praseodymium (III, IV) oxide, by heating in oxygen at high pressure. Under normal pressure, the connection can be made by solvolytic disproportionation .

properties

Praseodymium (IV) oxide is a brown-black solid. It splits off oxygen at temperatures above 200 ° C and has a crystal structure of the calcium fluoride type (a = 539.3 pm).
