Predrag "Preki" Radosavljević (born June 24, 1963 in Belgrade , SFR Yugoslavia ) is an American football coach and former player .
Career as a football player
Belgrade-born Radosavljević began his football career in 1983 with Red Star Belgrade .
From there he moved to the USA and played indoor soccer in the Major Indoor Soccer League with the Tacoma Stars and St. Louis Storm.
In 1992 he returned to Europe for three years and played for Everton FC (1992–94) and Portsmouth FC (1994–95). After his excursion to the English Premier League, he played with the San Jose Grizzlies in the American Continental Indoor Soccer League, an indoor soccer league that existed until 1997.
In 1996 he moved to the Kansas City Wizards in the newly founded MLS . He played there until his retirement in 2006. Except in 2001, when he played for Miami Fusion .
At the Wizards he still holds the records for most goals (71) and most assists (98).
National team
After taking US citizenship in 1996, he played 28 times for the US national team , scoring 4 goals. He was also part of the 1998 World Cup squad in France, where he played two games. On February 10, 1998, he scored the only goal in the spectacular 1-0 victory over Brazil . It was the first and so far only time that the USA could win against the South Americans.
Career as a coach
Chivas USA
From 2007 to 2009 Preki was the coach of CD Chivas USA and led the team to three play-offs in a row. In 2007 he was even named Coach of the Year in the USA.
On November 12, 2009, Preki separated from the Chivas "by mutual agreement". Before that, the Chivas lost to Los Angeles Galaxy in the play-offs.
Toronto FC
On November 19, 2009 Predrag Radosavljević was signed as the new coach of Toronto FC . His first and only success with the team was on June 2, 2010, when Toronto won the Canadian Championship 2010 and qualified for the CONCACAF Champions League . He was fired on September 14, 2010 along with Sporting Director Mo Johnston .
Sacramento Republic
After three years without having worked as a coach, Preki was confirmed as the new coach of Sacramento Republic on July 15, 2013 . The team started in the USL Professional Division in the 2014 season and immediately secured the championship title. On July 8, 2015, Preki announced that he would be leaving the position as a coach with Sacramento. He directed his last game on July 11th.
Preki indicated new tasks in England for his decision . He was associated with Leicester City but remained unemployed.
Saint Louis FC
On October 12, 2016 it was announced that Preki will take over as coach at Saint Louis FC for the new season .
