Preston Mark Zimmerman (born November 21, 1988 in Auburn , Washington ) is a former American football player with US and German citizenship .

Career

Zimmerman began his career in Washington with Crossfire Premier, where he played until 2004. From 2004 to 2006 he was at the IGM Soccer Academy . For the 2006/07 season he moved to Seattle to the Hibernian Saints in the Pacific Coast Soccer League . In 2007 he left the team again to take the plunge to Europe and sign with the reserve team of the German Bundesliga club Hamburger SV .

On September 1, 2008, Kapfenberg SV Zimmerman signed shortly before the transfer deadline. He was awarded a two-year contract. Exactly three weeks later, on September 24, 2008, Zimmerman made his debut in the Austrian Bundesliga when he came on as a substitute for Pero Pejić in the 46th minute of the home game against SK Austria Kärnten . The game ended in a 2-0 defeat after losing 6-0 away to the Carinthians on September 21st. On April 29, 2009, he was fired by Kapfenberg after he had previously been removed from the squad due to a lack of recruitment. Overall, he was used for the team in 21 Bundesliga games and scored three goals.

After he wanted to end his career in the meantime, Zimmerman joined the 2nd team of 1. FSV Mainz 05 in early 2010 . In the summer of 2011 he moved to the third division club SV Darmstadt 98 , where he made his breakthrough and developed from a substitute to a regular player over the third division season 2011/12. After the 2012/13 season he left Darmstadt and returned to Mainz to play for TSV Schott Mainz . With TSV he was champion of the Association League Southwest and rose to the top division. Zimmerman scored 22 goals this season in 30 championship appearances. In the following 2014/15 season he continued to act as a regular and scored 15 goals in 24 league games. In the following season 2015/16 missions were largely absent. By the end of 2015, Zimmerman had only made four appearances in the league, scoring two goals. He then left the club during the 2015/16 winter break. Subsequently, he ended his active career and went into the private sector, in which he is still active today.

After completing a bachelor's and master's degree in Business Administration and Management at the University of Phoenix , he started working for Schott AG in July 2014 , the financial, personnel and organizational supporter of TSV Schott Mainz, where he also works in the marketing and communication area has been. In the summer of 2015, he briefly returned to the United States, where he also worked as a marketing and communications consultant on the US market between July and October 2015.
