from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pretlack'sche Palais (occasionally also courtyard house , as the former Rimhorner Hof complex ) is a baroque mansion in Rimhorn , municipality of Lützelbach in the Odenwald district in Hesse . It was built in 1733 in a prominent location above the town by Lieutenant General Johann Rudolf Victor von Pretlack from Hesse-Darmstadt .

As a complete Rimhorner Hof complex , the building once comprised a larger garden and several outbuildings, which have now been torn down or remodeled. Only the one and a half story mansion with a mansard roof is preserved . Due to its size, massive construction and elevated location, the building dominates the Rimhorn town center. On the street side there is a three-axis dwarf house , the entrance in front is reached via a two-flight flight of stairs , which has a basement entrance with a sandstone portal and a cartouche in the middle .

In the meantime, the Pretlack'sche Palais was in dire need of renovation. The renovation cost 1.15 million euros, 825,000 of which were raised by the community of Lützelbach, which has been using it as a village community center since the end of 2009 . The renovation was funded with 225,000 euros by the State Office for Monument Preservation in Hesse .

When removing a suspended ceiling during the renovation, a stucco ceiling with bands and medallions came to light. Architectural paintings found on the walls also correspond to the high-quality work. The “historic room”, which was formerly designed and now restored, is to be used as a wedding room in the future. There is also a hall with an area of 90 m² on the living floor. The cellar consists of larger vaults, which in earlier times had access at ground level due to the hillside location. In the attic, which has a considerable volume due to the mansard construction, there were last apartments.
