Primož Brezec (born October 2, 1979 in Postojna , SR Slovenia ) is a Slovenian basketball player. The 2.16 m tall center player has been playing for the Russian club BK Nizhny Novgorod since 2012 . He has also been part of the Slovenian national team since 1997 and took part in the European Championships in 2003, 2005 and 2009 as well as the World Championships in 2006 and 2010.
Bezec began his career at KK Kraški Zidar from Sežana and moved to Olimpija Ljubljana in 1998 , where he was Slovenian champion twice and cup winner three times. In the following three years he was active in the NBA for the Indiana Pacers . With his subsequent move to the Charlotte Bobcats , Brezec became a regular player, which earned him fourth place in the election of the NBA Most Improved Player Awards that season. He also scored the first points in the newly founded franchise . In the 2007/08 season he changed clubs twice within a few months: first to the Detroit Pistons and shortly afterwards to the Toronto Raptors , for whom his compatriot Radoslav Nesterovič is also active in the center position. Brezec signed with Lottomatica Roma for the next season . After another season in the NBA in 2009/10 , he has been playing in Russia since 2010 .
