Career

society

Nesterovič started his professional career in 1993 at PAOK Thessaloniki . Two years later he signed with Olimpija Ljubljana , with this club he was two Slovenian champions and one cup winner. In 1997 he moved to Kinder Bologna and in 1998 won the Italian championship and the European Cup , the final of which he reached in 1999 with Bologna. Nesterovič was selected in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves , but due to the local players' strike, he was not immediately moved there.

At Minnesota Timberwolves Nesterovič played until 2003 and soon became a regular player. With the Timberwolves led by Kevin Garnett , he reached the play-offs every time , but was eliminated there every time in the first round. From 2003 to 2006 he played for the San Antonio Spurs , with whom he was able to celebrate the 2005 NBA championship. In the following season, however, due to competition from Nazr Mohammed , he got less playing time and finally moved to the Toronto Raptors . He stayed there for two years before signing with the Indiana Pacers . After only one season with the Pacers, he returned to Toronto.

For the 2010/2011 season he returned to Europe and signed a contract with Olympiacos in Greece.

National team

With the Slovenian national team , Nesterovič took part in the European Championships in 1997 , 1999 , 2001 , 2005 and 2007 and the 2006 World Cup. In 2008, after Slovenia failed to qualify for the Olympic Games, he resigned from the national team.
