The Princesa Amorosa was a cruise ship of the Cypriot Louis Cruise Lines , which was built in 1957 as a passenger ferry Scottish Coast .

period of service

The Scottish Coast was built by Harland & Wolff in Belfast and commissioned in March 1957 for the Belfast Steamship Co. on the route from Liverpool to Belfast. After just a few months in service, the ship was bought by the Burns Laid Line in July 1957 and used on the Glasgow - Dublin route. In October 1961, the Scottish Coast switched to the Liverpool-Dublin route. In 1965, the ship, previously used exclusively as a passenger ferry, was converted by Alexander Stephen & Sons in order to be able to transport 25 vehicles in the future. It was then used on the Ardrossan- Liverpool route. This was followed by further route changes and two changes of ownership to the original owner Belfast Steamship Co. and the Coast Lines. In November 1969 the ship was finally sold to Kavounides Shipping, based in Piraeus , and renamed Galaxias .

The ship operated under the new name until 1977 as a cruise ship for short trips through the Mediterranean. The Galaxias was then used as a ferry between the Canaries and North Africa until 1978 . In June 1986, the ship was used as floating shelter in Vancouver during Expo 86 . Then the ship was launched.

In 1987 the Galaxias was sold to Golden Cruise Tours , who used the ship for cruises off the American west coast. In 1989 the ship was sold to Almarco Maritime and renamed Princesa Amorosa . After a modernization in Piraeus, the ship was used again as a ferry.

In 1994 the Princesa Amorosa was sold to the Louis Cruise Line and used for shorter cruises in the Mediterranean. In June 2000 the ship, the oldest unit in the fleet, was decommissioned and laid up.

In December 2002, the Princesa Amorosa was finally sold to India for scrapping. To this end, the ship was renamed pink one last time . In December 2002, the ship was scrapped in Mumbai , where it was dismantled.

Sister ship

The sister ship of the Princesa Amorosa was the Irish Coast , which was already in service in 1953 , which was later also converted into a cruise ship and was last in service as Apollon 11 for Chandris until it was lost in a storm in 1989.
