Product of Hate is an American thrash / groove metal band from Kenosha , Wisconsin . The band is signed to Napalm Records and has so far released a studio album.

history

The band was formed in 2007 by guitarist Cody Rathbone and drummer Mike McGuire. Both played in a different band before. First came a mutual acquaintance with the singer Adam Gilley, before Mark Campbell joined as bassist . The group was completed when Cody Rathbone brought his brother Gene into the band as the second guitarist. Originally the group was called "I for an I". But since there was already a Canadian band with the same name and they wanted to avoid a legal dispute, the name was later changed to "Product of Hate". Three years after its founding, the band released the EP The Unholy Manipulator on their own , produced by Chris Wisco and mixed and mastered by James Murphy . For the theme song, the band shot a music video that was produced by Robert Kurtzman and in which actress Ashley Laurence starred.

A few more self-released singles followed . In early 2014, the band recorded a 13-song demo with sound engineer Scott Creekmore , with which the band applied to various record labels . Finally, the Austrian label Napalm Records signed Product of Hate. The band went back into the studio and recorded nine songs for their debut album, which was again mixed and mastered by James Murphy. In mid-2015 the band played their first North American tour, first as opening act for Allegaeon and then as opening act for Hatebreed . The debut album Buried in Violence was released on February 5, 2016 and contains a cover version of the song Perry Mason by Ozzy Osbourne .

style

Product of Hate are usually assigned to Thrash or Groove Metal. According to Jerel Johnson from the online magazine Target Audience Magazine , influences from death metal and hardcore punk are added. James Christopher Monger from the online magazine Allmusic compared the band to Lamb of God , Pantera and Testament .
