Pseudiragoides florianii is a butterfly from the family of the snail moth (Limacodidae).

features

The males reach a forewing length of 13 to 15 millimeters and have a wingspan of 27 to 32 millimeters. The antennae have short side branches (rami) that almost reach the tip of the antennae . The butterflies have a yellowish-brown basic color and are tinged with orange. The forewings are yellowish brown and paler in the post-media area. A blurry grayish spot is in the disc area.

In the males, the uncus tapers at the tip to a strong spur and a small dorsally located process. The gnathos is slim. The valva is elongated and curved upwards. It has a short saccular process that has a number of almost equally large, powerful spurs. The Juxta is flattened. The aedeagus is apically provided with a pair of long and slender spurs.

Females and pre-imaginal stages (developmental stages before the moth, i.e. egg, caterpillar and pupa ) have not yet been described.

Similar species

P. florianii resembles Pseudiragoides spadix in the basic color, but the males can be distinguished genitally morphologically by the two apically located, long and slender spurs of the aedeagus.

distribution

Pseudiragoides florianii has been found in China in the Guangxi Autonomous Region and in the provinces of Fujian , Hunan and Zhejiang at an altitude of 1200 to 2300 meters.

biology

The biology of the species has not yet been described. The moths were collected from late April to early June at an altitude of 1,350 to 2,200 meters.

Systematics

The holotype is a male. It was caught in the Chinese province of Shaanxi (Tai bai shan Mountains (S), Tsinling Mountains, Houzbenzi) at an altitude of 1,600 meters in 1999. It is located in the Museum Witt in Munich .

etymology

The species was named after the Italian lepidopterist Alessandro Floriani , who among other things collected some paratypes of the species.
