The Reisach pumped storage power plant is a pumped storage power plant on the Trausnitz reservoir near Trausnitz in the Upper Palatinate Forest .

history

The plant was built by OBAG (Energieversorgung Ostbayern AG) from 1954 and commissioned in 1955 with 33 MW. In 1961 the output was increased to 99 MW by installing two more machines.

In 2001 OBAG merged into E.ON Bayern and the power plant was operated by the subsidiary E.ON Wasserkraft . In 2009 E.ON sold several power plants, including this one, to GDF Suez (now Engie) for anti-trust reasons .

technology

The power plant belongs to the Pfreimd power plant group (also known as the Jansen power plant group ), which includes the Reisach power plant and the Tanzmühle and Trausnitz power plants . The group uses the water of the Pfreimd river and the gradient between the Rabenleite reservoir (as the upper water), the Kainzmühl reservoir and the Trausnitz reservoir (as the underwater).

The Reisach plant is used for pumped storage from the Trausnitz storage facility, on the bank of which it is located, over 180 m height difference through the 1315 meter long Reisach tunnel ( pressure tunnel ) to the high storage facility. For this purpose, it has three Francis turbines with 35 MW installed usable power each and three centrifugal pumps with 28 MW power consumption.

The power plant is electrically connected to the substation in Weiden via a 110 kV line.
