history

The band was founded in 1996 by guitarist Ralph Huber, bassist Reto Hardmeier and guitarist André Mathieu. In 1998, drummer Reto Crola and singer Chris Block completed the cast. Together they developed the first songs, which resulted in their self-titled debut album in 2000. In 2001 bassist Mirko Siegwart joined the line-up as the new bassist. The demo Three Songs of Mental Disorder followed in 2004 in self-release, followed in 2005 by the EP Four Songs in Morbid Lust . In 2005 Reto Hardmeier came back to the band as bassist and after singer Chris Block left the band in 2006, Hardmeier took over the position of singer together with Mathieu. In the same year the band toured Europe with Helheim for two weeks . The band's second album was released in 2007 under the name Dawn of the Martyr via Quam Libet Records . In 2008 another European tour followed with the US band Nocturnus . The band released their third album Raptus in 2009 via Stonepath Records . In 2012 André Mathieu took over the entire vocal part. Thus, Punish turned their backs on the two-vocal concept and returned to just one singer. In 2013 Punish released their fourth album Sublunar Chaos, this time through Apostasy Records . In the same year Monika Hagmann joined the band as the new bass player.

style

The band plays technically demanding Death Metal, whereby the guitar work is partly reminiscent of Death 's.
