Pyrvinium is a medicinal substance against worm diseases of the digestive tract in humans. Pyrvinium belongs to the group of quinolinium salts .
Drug
The active ingredient is used as a salt of emboxylic acid (pamoic acid). Pyrvinium embonate or pyrvinium pamoate is a crystalline salt with a bright orange-red color. It does not dissolve in water. Pyrviniumemboat is formulated as a dragee or suspension using suitable auxiliary substances.
application
Pyrvinium is effective against pinworms ( oxyuriasis ). The drug causes the worms to die by disrupting the uptake of sugar, as they can no longer feed themselves adequately. Apparently only a small percentage of pyrvinium is absorbed into the bloodstream.
