The Qatar Railways Company ( QRail for short ) is a railway company in the Emirate of Qatar that is currently being established . At the end of 2009, Deutsche Bahn received the order to set up a 325-kilometer rail network for passenger and freight traffic in Qatar . This includes:

Operations were originally scheduled to start in 2016/2017. The projects are now expected to be fully implemented by 2030.

The Qatar Railways Development Company (QRDC), founded on November 22, 2009 and based in Qatar, was entrusted with building the infrastructure and organizing it. Initially, the shareholders were the state investment company Qatari Diar with 51% and Deutsche Bahn AG. The latter, however, sold its shares in 2012. DB International continues to oversee the implementation of the project.

The investment volume is 17 billion euros .

Saad Ahmed Al Muhannadi has been the new CEO since July 2011 .
