Querschläger is an Austrian dialect band specializing in new folk music .

history

The band was founded in 1990 and comes from Lungau ( Land Salzburg ). The band made their first appearance on September 1, 1990 at the Goldegger Blues and Folk Festival. Frontman Fritz Messner (vocals, "G'schichtln") sees his roots in radio music of the early 1970s with blues , folk and rock .

The band performed with cabaret artist Josef Hader , as well as with Otto Schenk and Hanns Meilhamer at the Sternenzelt Festival , and with the Bavarian Biermösl Blosn at the cultural and political Ash Wednesday in Ried. She worked on the theater project Die Fabrik . In 2007 she performed at the Donauinselfest .

Style, themes

The band combines a mix of styles from blues, rock, funk , jazz and ethnic music to yodelling and Gstanzl . During the performances she connects and explains individual songs in so-called "G'schichtln", partly in a cabaret style and partly in dialogue with the audience. The band's lyrics and “G'schichtln” will be performed in Austrian dialect .

The band outlines the people and the lives of their surroundings, ways of thinking, progress, local and European politics. She asks: "Do I have to be there everywhere and do I have to find everything good without losing 'the train' to a fulfilled life?" Topics are, for example, the inability to do something with oneself without high-tech equipment and professional advice ( Schwammerl Brocking Talking Blues ) or the “last field of really being a man” ( Autobahn ). The piece Irbat describes when “we are not doing so well”.
