Quincy Market is a market complex and historic building in downtown Boston , Massachusetts . It was built from 1824-1826 and named after the mayor Josiah Quincy , who organized the construction without using taxes and without taking out loans.
geography
Quincy Market is next to Faneuil Hall near the harbor on the so-called Freedom Trail .
After Boston was declared a city in 1822, the capacity of Faneuil Hall no longer met needs. The expansion was achieved through the construction of Quincy Market, which includes a number of elongated granite buildings designed by Alexander Parris . The main building is 163 m long, takes up an area of 2,500 m² and is flanked by two other buildings ( North Market and South Market ). Inside are mainly a food market, restaurants and bars.
