Rémy Victor Vancottem (born July 25, 1943 in Tubize ) is a Belgian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Namur .

Life

The Archbishop of Mechlin-Brussels Léon-Joseph Cardinal Suenens ordained him on June 27, 1969 as a priest .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Mechlin-Brussels and titular bishop of Unizibira on February 15, 1982 . The Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussels Godfried Danneels donated him the episcopal ordination on March 21 of the same year ; Co -consecrators were Jean-Baptiste Musty , auxiliary bishop in Namur, Paul Constant Schoenmaekers , auxiliary bishop in Mechlin-Brussels, Jean Huard , bishop of Tournai , and Emiel-Jozef De Smedt , bishop of Bruges . As a motto he chose Et votre joie sera parfaite .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Namur on May 31, 2010 . Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on June 5, 2019.
