The Río Cosapa is a river in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state Bolivia .
The Río Cosapa rises in the municipality of Turco in the province of Sajama about one kilometer above the town of Cosapa on the eastern foothills of the Sajama volcanic cone , at 6542 m the highest mountain in Bolivia. The river flows south and south-east along its entire length. Notable tributaries in its course are the Río Palcoma and the Río Jaruma coming from the north . After a total of 81 kilometers, the Río Cosapa flows into the Río Turco in the Municipio Escara in the Litoral Province . The Río Turco flows further over the Río Lauca into the drainless salt lake Salar de Coipasa , the second largest salt lake in Bolivia. This is located on the Bolivian Altiplano at an average altitude of 3680 m.
