The Río Mira is a river in the western border area of Ecuador and Colombia .

River course

The Río Mira arises 15 km north of Ibarra at the confluence of the Río Chota and Río Ambi . The Río Mira initially flows 80 km to the northwest. The river forms the border between the province of Carchi in the east and the province of Imbabura in the west. The trunk road E10 follows the course of the river. The river then turns north, separating Esmeraldas Province (to the west) from Carchi Province to the east. At river kilometer 130 the Río Mira reaches the border with Colombia. There he meets the Río San Juan coming from the right . The Río Mira now flows in a north-northwest direction. Over the next 15 kilometers, the Río Mira forms a border river between Ecuador and Colombia. At river kilometer 98 the Río Güiza joins the Río Mira on the right. This turns west for the last 30 km and flows into the Pacific Ocean in the area of the municipality of Tumaco in the Colombian Departamento de Nariño at Cape Manglares .
