The Río Nangaritza is an approximately 150 km long right tributary of the Río Zamora in the province of Zamora Chinchipe in southeast Ecuador .

River course

The Río Nangaritza rises 20 km south of the city of Zamora on the eastern flank of the Cordillera Real at an altitude of 2350  m . It initially flows 30 km in a south-southeast direction. It flows through the eastern part of the Podocarpus National Park . Then the Río Nangaritza turns to the northeast. At river kilometer 90 the Río Numpatakaime flows into the Río Nangaritza on the right. The Río Numpatakaime is a black water river . The Río Nangaritza is now a few meters away from the eastern border with Peru . It flows on the rest of the river in a predominantly northward direction. The Cordillera del Cóndor and the border with Peru that runs across it limit the catchment area of the Río Nangaritza in the east. The municipality of Guayzimi is located 3.5 km west of the Río Nangaritza at river kilometer 45. On the lower 50 kilometers, the river meanders through the eastern foreland of the Andes . In doing so, he forms river branches , meanders and oxbow lakes . At river kilometer 26 the river passes the village of Paquisha on the right bank of the river . The Río Nangaritza finally flows into the Río Zamora 13.5 km northeast of the city of Yantzaza , opposite the village of Los Encuentros .
