The Río San Pablo (in sections also Río San Antonio and Río Las Juntas ) is the approximately 100 km long left source river of the Río Babahoyo in the west of Ecuador in the provinces of Guayas and Los Ríos .

River course

The Río San Pablo rises 5 km north of Cumandá at the foot of the Cordillera Occidental . In the upper reaches the river is called Río San Antonio . It flows along the western flank of the mountains, initially almost 50 km in a north-north-westerly direction. In the middle reaches the river is called Río Las Juntas . The river later turns to the northwest and meanders through the Ecuadorian coastal lowlands. He finally reaches the city of Babahoyo . There it unites with the Río Catarama coming from the north to the Río Babahoyo.

Hydrology

The catchment area of the Río San Pablo covers about 1800 km². The river drains the western flank of the Cordillera Occidental over a length of 60 km.
