Rómulo Betancourt y Torres

Rómulo Betancourt y Torres (born February 16, 1858 in Irapuato , Guanajuato , Mexico , † October 21, 1901 in Mérida , Yucatán ) was Bishop of Campeche .

Life

Rómulo Betancourt y Torres was ordained a deacon on September 21, 1884 . On September 27, 1885, he received the sacrament of ordination .

On August 31, 1900, Pope Leo XIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Campeche. The Archbishop of Michoacán , Atenógenes Silva y Álvarez Tostado , gave him episcopal ordination on November 30th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Querétaro , Rafael Sabás Camacho y García , and the Bishop of Cuernavaca , Francisco Plancarte y Navarrette . The inauguration took place on December 20, 1900.

On October 21, 1901, he died in Mérida of complications from malaria .
