Rudiger Proske

Rüdiger Proske (born December 26, 1916 in Berlin ; † December 10, 2010 in Hamburg ) was a German television journalist , author and social democratic unionist . He was a co-founder of the TV magazine Panorama .

Life

Rüdiger Proske was born the son of a high official of the Reichsbahn . He attended school in Königsberg / Pr. and graduated from high school in Breslau . During the Second World War , Proske was shot down as a fighter pilot over London in 1940. While in captivity, he studied political science and economics at the University of Toronto .

After his return to Germany in 1947 he became a member of the editorial team at Frankfurter Heften founded by Eugen Kogon and Walter Dirks . From 1949 to 1952 he was the second federal chairman of the " JEF (then: Young Community of the European Union) ". From 1950 to 1952 he worked together with Charles Maignal as editor of the monthly pronunciation Pronunciation .

In 1952 he began as deputy head of the politics department in the Hamburg house of the NWDR . In 1957, the broadcaster commissioned him to set up regional television for NDR (“Nordschau”): in 1958 he was promoted to chief department head for current affairs, and in 1960 to editor-in-chief. Since 1961 he built up the political magazine Panorama . Proske is considered to be the inventor of political journalism in magazine form for German television.

Since 1965 Proske has worked as a freelance writer and documentarist on television and in business on science and future issues.

After 1995 he protested against the first Wehrmacht exhibition 1995–1999, which he described as unscientific.

Rüdiger Proske was a member of Group 47 and a friend of Hans Werner Richter .
